Cold Forged Steel

In the year 2000, Metal Impact added an additional 35,000 square feet to its existing Elk Grove Village facility to accommodate additional equipment for the manufacture of cold steel forgings. The cold steel forging process is similar to the aluminum impact extrusion process with the added advantage of producing steel products that require little or greatly reduced secondary operations such as machining. Finished products have the same properties as parts produced by more conventional processes, and, after the cold forging process is completed, the product can be heat treated and finished in the normal manner.
